Chicago Teachers Union, CPS agree to “day of civic action” on May Day – CBS2 (Chicago)

According to the union, CTU and CPS signed an agreement that includes the district providing buses for field trips so students and teachers can attend a May Day rally in Union Park. The union said the agreement also include a pledge from CPS that there will be no retaliation against any staff or students who participate in May Day, and that the district agreed that future May Days that fall during the work week be teacher-directed professional development days "so that we all have clarity for the years to come."

Chicago teachers and students as a whole can’t spell “civic.”

CTU got what they wanted, as usual. Schools should have to get signed permission slips to attend this “field trip.” Teachers and the schools should be legally and financially responsible for any injuries to students, and arrest of any student. If teachers and schools support indoctrination, they’d teachers and schools can teach real subjects, and be held responsible for students educational failures

Disrupt and/or destroy or just sleep-in while scoring
another three day weekend that will prepare the body for summer vacation. It’s all training for self-satisfied retirement in one’s fifties. At
The next contract negotiations they should demand land for burial at city expense. I guess that deep-down they’re all OK.

Once again, a weak CHI kowtows to a pack of Marxists. If they don’t want to do their jobs and educate students, then pull all their Federal funding and make them sue for it.

Wow, what a messed up system. First, as a parent sending my 6th grader to an event this. Second, I love the opt. to STAY in school. Third , If any of these families have faith based, conservative views get out of CPS run run run as far as you can away from activism like this. The media will cover this, look at how many students have come out , Isn’t this a great protest. What a joke!

For CPS to spend money on Marxist indoctrination, when graduates of CPS cannot do read, write or do math at their grade level, is a slap in the face to the taxpayers.

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
