Illinois gas tax will rise to nearly 50 cents per gallon in July – Illinois Policy

For the average driver, those increases add up fast. Illinois motorists now pay nearly $150 more annually in state gas taxes than they did before the 2019 increase. Drivers in Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry and several other counties pay even more because of additional local gas taxes.

Higher and higher taxes is the story of Illinois. Roads are poor to bad; bridges are in need of repair and the some of the highest taxes in the country. Fill up the car on last time in Illinois and head out of state ASAP.
