Mayor addresses call for Chicago Department of Gun Violence Prevention – CBS2 (Chicago)

"A particular advocacy group has been calling for such an office to exist through multiple administrations, and we're going to continue to hear how the work that we're doing to drive violence down can work in coordination with the vision that this organization and organizing apparatus has," Mayor Brandon Johnson said.

Great. Another committee to hire his political cronies.

Growing up, community members would beg the kids and parents to stop killing each other. I don’t hear that so much any more. Now they just blame the guns. And being totally honest, taking the guns out of the hands of the community would certainly stop a lot of the killing. There’s a precedent for this too. If a thug decides to leave his gun at home, rather than carrying on the street, he can’t shoot anyone. And if he leaves his gun at home because he’s worried the cops will stop and frisk him looking for the gun, all… Read more »

Simply another method of laundering money to grifters. Fox in Chicago had one of these grifters on their broadcast this morning. She talked about “Teen Takeovers” and the gun violence. She said the department will focus on intervention services, expanded “activities” and providing jobs for the cOmmunity. She said that the intervention services would go out into the cOmmunity and talk to young people and get them to see a future…uh uh…ok. She said that there is a lack of education and that more schools are needed. I mean…is she kidding? Tax payers already plow Billions into education that these… Read more »

merely passing stricter gun laws in IL will do nothing as people will just go to neighboring states to procure firarms. as proven in other countries, what needs to be done is a federal law which protects the life of citizens instead of the gun companies & gun owners.

Laws are only effective when enforced. Obama stepped over the bodies for his self serving monument party, Johnson babbled on about the rarely occurring trans violence and the band played on through another violent Juneteenth/ Father’s Day weekend. But blame other states.

Law enforcement, real penalties and actual incarceration of criminals actually changes behaviors in these cOmmunities and better protects law abiding citizens. Currently they have no fear of Police, being arrested, or incarceration. The Police are hamstrung by so many committees and groups, they can do little but write reports, the Courts are filled with liberal judges who let actual criminals out with an ankle bracelet and there is no jail time for much of anything anymore. Taking guns out of the hands of law abiding citizens does nothing to change the behavior of criminals.

Who the hell are these people he wants to appoint? Live Free Illinois is mentioned. Dr. Chico Tillmon is on the board of Live Free Illinois and has a PhD in criminology. He also spent nearly 20 years in prison? For drug crimes?? His bio reads like a 20 year prison sentence is an accredited qualification!! Am I in the Twilight Zone?

Activist, ex- cons and other cronies eager to get a piece of the grift are being appointed, that’s who. Father Pflakey came right out and told Trump to “ shut up and send us money!”.

The thug element with terrible aim are shooting up Chicago neighborhoods. Mayor Cliff Notes declares, “This looks like a job for some bureaucrats!”

JB the Hutt spits out, ” Send in the bureaucrats! As long as they join AFCSME and vote for me.”

Illinois elects its dumbest. JB the Hutt and Mayor Cliff Notes are a bit overqualified in that regard.

Yep Lol. What we really need is a cOmmittee and a cOalition (of cOmmunity organizers and faith leaders) and a new City department to cOordinate. That’s the ticket.
