New statewide tenant law signed; Chicago seeks to push further – Center Square

“I think one of the challenges or the concerns with this is it seems to be moving very quickly – or at least the mayor's office seems to want it to move very quickly,” said Michael Mini, of the Chicagoland Apartment Association. “The ordinance was a little bit unusual in that it was done as a direct introduction in a committee meeting yesterday, as opposed to the normal route where you would introduce an ordinance at a city council meeting.”

Chicago has old housing stock, high taxes, and horrible Marxist leaders.
But the part that scares me the most is the crime. Did you read CWB Chicago today?
A small landlord or a property manager is a target for predators. Tenant fraud is at an all-time high; evictions are expensive and sometimes dangerous; and you can be sued for not renting to criminals. Beware of the liars, losers, and leeches. Protect your family and your future by boycotting Chicago.

And doesn’t protect landlords from dead beat tenants or damage to property by tenants.

Illinois is a bad state to be a landlord in. Sell your rental property and move to a more landlord friendly state. Soon there will be less rentals available in Illinois for all the many poor people, as the rich are fleeing because of this very kind of stuff put on businesses.
