Illinois may bring early warning of toll costs ahead of proposed rate hike – Center Square

“You will see a sign that says ‘toll ahead’ or ‘paid toll,’ but it does not define what the cost of that toll is going to be on the majority of tollways,” state Rep. Martin McLaughlin said. “If you're going to continue to charge us for the tolls, the least you should expect would be to get an exact exact dollar amount before you enter a toll point, and that's not happening today.”

If you enter 355, Veterans tollway , and go south on I 55, Stevenson express way you travel 3 miles and are charged $1.50 at the Boughton toll plaza that’s .50 cents a mile !!

So what. Don’t take that tollway if it’s too expensive for you. Go ahead and drive 53 south to 55. Save that $1.50 bro.

All you need is a sign that reads, “What’s in your wallet?”

Good question. What is the cost of a toll? When are tolls actually raised? With IPass, you really don’t know, it just is added to your account. Typical IL, death by a thousand small cuts.
