Gov. Pritzker signs ‘bell-to-bell’ school cellphone ban into law – ABC7 (Chicago)

The law requires school districts to develop and implement a "bell-to-bell" policy, restricting access to cell phones between the hours of the first bell to the final dismissal bell. Many school districts and private schools already have a similar policy in place.

I knew if he stayed in office long enough, sooner or later he’d sign a bill that made sense. Thank you, JB, for rewarding my patience.

My fear is without the electronic cheat sheets in their laps we may find students are dumber than we thought

Wow! Maybe there have been other issues that I have missed, but this is the first time I can recall that I agree with JB and he has actually done the right thing. And of course he is not the leader on this, but simply following the positive press that other governors have received when announcing similar bans in their own states. But this is good for Illinois schools, teacher– and especially students.
