NASCAR is pulling the plug on its Chicago street race – Crain’s

​In a statement released today, the auto racing giant said that, despite some progress, time had run out on its negotiations with state and local officials about restarting the Chicago Street Race next year.

Chicago, Joliet, does it really matter? The state gets their cut either way, and a dead of night, back room deal makes sure CHI gets their beak whetted as well, much like hanging the debt of the RTA/CTA around the necks of the rest of IL. Perhaps a little less grift for the CHI connected will be had, but I wouldn’t bet on that either.
