Lightfoot will cave because at her core she is cut from the same cloth these socialists. To lightfoot this is exactly the kind of “reform” she intended, did anyone ever think that when Lightfoot campaigned on “reform” that she really meant to move the city to the right? She’s not a reformer, reformers move things in the opposite direction. Instead she will grease the rails making it even easier for CPS to move farther left. If the FOP were smart they’d do a strike now too, or maybe a blue flu, or maybe massive disability claims, maybe a giant police… Read more »

““This isn’t about money. This is about class size. This is about having a nurse and a librarian in every single school in CPS … This is about the privatization…”

We all know the answer to that one.

This is socialists doing what socialists do — spending everyone else’s earnings for their own benefit.

These parties are like 14th century neighboring barons going to war over petty issues. Neither party will ultimately win and the peasantry suffers the heavy brunt of the losses. The city of chicago and the students are the only losers in battle, despite the CTU’s claim to be striking on behalf of their students.

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
