Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. The state’s existing buyout program for its own pensions is the precedent for Chicago, which should be a warning: Look out for similar exaggerated claims and shoddy analysis.

How abouts not voting Democrat? God forbid the trib suggest that but that would be a death wish for the paper. As for gender neutral language, English has made it nearly 2,000 years from the first Runic symbols of Old Saxon, through to Chaucer’s Middle English to about the 1960’s with no one, no one complaining about gender neutral language. Heck, gendered language goes back all the way to the first written Indo—European language, Hittite, and it’s basis, the reconstructed proto-language iPIE (Porto Indo-European) was also a gendered language.
