I’ve been through this at a different Illinois manufacturer, whereby we had to literally train our replacements offshore, they called it “knowledge transfer”. It was humiliating and knowledge can’t be simply transferred anyway. Everyone got very passive aggressive, withheld knowledge even from coworkers. The company suffered innovation wise, no real innovation for ten years, when immediately prior and after the outsourcing there was abundant innovation. Today when we look to hire an engineer at 200,000 per year salary, 90 percent of the resumes we review are from h1b, 10 percent American. Kids are not coming out of colleges with these… Read more »

Number of half-empty Chicago public schools doubles, yet lawmakers want to extend school closing moratorium – Wirepoints

A set of state lawmakers want to extend CPS’ current school closing moratorium to February 1, 2027 – the same year CPS is set to transition to a fully-elected school board. That means schools like Manley High School, with capacity for more than 1,000 students but enrollment of just 78, can’t be closed for anther three years.
