Karen Murphy and Mark Kmiecik sued Markham on behalf of all drivers who got red light tickets from June through November 2017, alleging the tickets were invalid because a link on the city’s website was inoperable, preventing peopled from accessing notices and reports required by Illinois traffic laws.
This is just a cash grab not just a safety program from municipalities. Chicago has received hundreds of millions or more in fines since the red light program was instituted.
Here’s an idea. Just eliminate the yellow light and more revenue would come in. Remember the game Green light-Green light-Red light?
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
