U.S. District Judge Virginia Kendall said in opinion that both Naperville's ban passed in August and Illinois' ban approved five months later are "constitutionally sound...Illinois and Naperville compellingly argue their laws protect public safety by removing particularly dangerous weapons from circulation."
Hopefully this gets appealed quickly and this propagandizing Judge who is ruling on politics and her own beliefs rather than the law will get slapped down by the appeals court.

Perhaps U.S. District Judge Virginia Kendall should check statistics about the number of long guns involved in shootings.
Just a teaser … most shootings/assaults are perpetrated with handguns, not so-called ‘assault weapons.’

“their laws protect public safety by removing particularly dangerous weapons from circulation”
No – they remove constitutional rights of law abiding citizens. Another win for the criminals.
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
Someone should have asked the Judge exactly what is an “assault weapon”.
Naperville businesses will want their guns back when the next round of Black Lives Matter Riots, Looting, and Arson starts
