Christoffa Corombo is the real name of Christopher Columbus. ?
In 1933, the statue should have been placed in Columbus Park, in Chicago’s Austin community then home to many Italians (and Irish too). ?

The comment from La Spata is the most ignorant thing I’ve heard in some time. These people are filled with hate and intolerance, and lack a very basic understanding of history. My best friend in grade school was a first generation Italian. His Dad and Grandpa worked their butts off as stone and cement workers. They did side jobs in the neighborhoods on weekends to make extra money. They saved and invested, and did well. They were devout Catholics and loved America. All these politicians seem to be supporting the protesters. They want the protesters to remove the statues so they don’t have to go on record supporting it. Weak politicians, speak up, state your position. Mindless media, ask them what their position is on removing the statue.
