Given where Chicago is right now this new stadium proposal is a bad idea and a bad deal – Wirepoints on The Chicago Way with John Kass
Ted was on The Chicago Way with John Kass and Jeff Carlin to discuss the proposed $5 billion lakefront stadium project proposed by the Chicago Bears & Mayor Brandon Johnson, why Chicago is struggling compared to other metro areas across the country, why the city might or might not go the way of Detroit, and more.
Hopefully the Tribune Opinion Staff will do an annual, 5, or 10 year follow up with the resdents whom are staying.
My favorite quote “The city’s massive manufacturing base is gone. Advertising is a shell of its former self. The huge futures trading industry is ceremonial. The kids are selling coffee to each other.” These industries are what the city and state structured their spending and compensation plans around. Manufacturing shrivels up, but spending does not. Not a good recipe for financial success.
I think that quote was the original bridge to Bruce Springsteen’s “My Hometown”
Well said Bob-
