Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson’s allies push for $12 billion financial package to raise taxes, defund police – FOX News

Brandon Johnson, Lori LightfootFrom housing and education to climate and violence prevention, the People's Unity Platform called for Mayor Brandon Johnson's office to take action on a number of its suggestions in the proposal titled "First We Get The Money." The group said Johnson should "reinstitute the big business head tax to make large corporations pay what they owe for benefiting from the city’s public infrastructure" and also raise the jet fuel tax to "force airlines to pay what they owe for using our public infrastructure and profiting from creating pollution in our city."

We are simply viewing Lori’s big plan, she was furious when Rahm handed her a train wreck and laughed up his sleeve at their last meeting ! Lori was furious and vowed to screw the next chump worse and it falls on Brandon. He’s got a husk that’s picked clean and everybody has their hand out. He should immediately start a punative head tax.

Please let me summarize Brandons plan. It can be shortened to'”GIMME 12 billion dollars to completely destroy Chicago in 4 years.”

I love the title of this proposal: First We Get the Money. It’s entitlement on steroids!

With a city income tax, property taxes on homeowners could be significantly lowered – will this happen? I doubt it. I look forward to the Karen’s in the suburbs having to pay more though.

I hope you are correct because those liberal white housewives’ families should be hit with the taxes they voted for

WP Readers, a city income tax is a real possibility and will hearld the end of Chicago as we knew it.

In my former life I had to pay 1/2% to the Cities of Detroit and later to Pontiac, Michigan. Actual residents paid 1%. It can happen and don’t expect any additional services for that 1/2%.

Suburbanites will revolt at paying 3% income tax to the city. Although not likely, I think this might be the one issue, one time, that turns some suburbs red again. The progressive tax was really unpopular in the suburbs but very popular in the city. True, the city tax might not apply to very many suburbanites, only those making over $100,000, but people aren’t going to pay attention to the details when they hear “city tax on suburbanites”.

It will apply to everyone where I work. Our CEO already moved to Indiana, if they do this I would expect our company to move as well because it will impact the c-suite significantly.

In Detroit there was no minimum income threshold. If your employer was located there you paid this “extra” tax.

And it’s 1.20% for non residents now and 2.4% for residents .

So instead of 30 seconds for the police to get there when ShotSpotter goes off, just wait a few days for a social worker in a Prius to roll up to the scene and mediate the conflict. Great. That is a chimptastic idea. Let’s go, Brandon.

The social worker may respond via a Zoom call. After all the streets are way too dangerous to travel.

Is that Randi Weingarten behind the mayor? Of course it is. She’s there to push more of her failed policies for CPS.

Come on economic depression for Chicago. Time to relieve the 1930s.

Well, the nuts are running loose in the city again, except this time they have one of their own on the Fifth Floor. Defund the police again? Bring back the head tax that failed already? Kill the airlines at ORD? Only took a couple of days after inauguration to see what is coming to the City.

I guess the conservative commenters who wanted BJ elected instead of Vallas so Chicago would decay more quickly than when Lightfoot was in office were right after all.
