Pollster Matt Podgorski, of the political consulting firm M3, said, "The big takeaway that we saw is that Chuy Garcia and Paul Vallas basically flip-flopped spots. Now I’ve got Paul Vallas in first place with 26% and Chuy Garcia in second with 19%."
Some people think voting does not matter. That the election is decided in the backroom. What ever happened to the good old days of Daily?

Campaign slogan: Brandon Johnson. Because teachers unions can never have too much power.

Does Chuy really want to give up his cushy DC gig for this? He can sleepwalk the rest of his career in Congress, rubber stamping whatever Dems are passing. He can stand up and demonize conservatives and corporations without really doing anything about it. He’s gonna trade that in for gang warfare and a city bleeding red ink?

Could Chicago voters actually choose Vallas? Certainly a positive sign that voters are waking up. Although, I won’t believe it until it happens.
Vallas seems like an inevitability for the runoff. The question remains if he can convert enough voters in the runoff. The majority of those splintered Lightfoot, Johnson, Buckner voters will go to Chuy. Conversely, it will be a heavy lift for Chuy to attract the traditional Black vote, most of whom are not too keen on a Hispanic candidate leading them, at least not hisotrically.
Chuy seems to be sleepwalking through the election thus far. He seemed far more engaged when running against Rahm.
He’s going to have to run a sharp, thoughtful campaign among a group of voters who’ve pretty much demonstrated they’ll vote for just about any level of foolishness, just as long as they think their Ox won’t get gored.
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.

It’s not an election, it’s a ballot harvesting operation.
Turnout will be key.
Yep, pretty much my feeling as well.
