Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. The blight of the 70’s and the gang wars of the 90’s brought Chicago its highest murder rate in its history. 970 in 1974 and 943 in 1992. My guess is that murders will accelerate over this long, hot summer and we could approach these figures. The health of the City of Chicago was recovering in the earlier part of this year but it officially died during the riots. City murders will be in near record territories this year. So far in 2020 the city is down by 3 from the last 2 most violent years since 2012. If the murder trend continues Chiraq murders will be around 650 to 700 in 2020. Ghetto self cleaning oven has been turned on high and is cooking.
I’m not quite sure but after the recent riots etc., I don’t think that anybody really cares.
