Chicago Public Schools unveils $8.4 billion budget plan that relies on more relief from Congress – Chalkbeat Chicago

"Overall, the budget proposal is a 7% increase over an amended $7.84 billion budget that the school board passed in November after an 11-day strike ushered in a new contract with the teachers’ union...At least one state, California, is also budgeting with the assumption that this financial injection will come through, but the approach could be risky given deep disagreement about the amount and fine print between Democrats and Republicans in Congress."

There is no number large enough for education. If we gave them all of the money in the world…it would still not be enough for them. They will spend any and all money provided on “programs”. $23K per year/student? That is double what it costs to send you children to a private school…something has to give here.

Check out the video – John Stossel Stupid in America 5-6-12 on youtube. (about 39 minutes long) 5-6-12 is the air date. Its about the public educational system. There are a few other related videos by him also. My BP went up so be careful. P.S. In Rockford private schools average about $7K per student.

Yep, amazing. Better than 3X the cost in Rockford. Nuts.

$8.4 billion budget ÷ 355,000 students = $23,600 per student per year!!!!!!! And those billions dont even cover the pensions. But articale states–“District leaders estimate that the budget still falls $1.9 billion short of what it should take to fully fund education for Chicago’s 355,000 students.” —CRAZY!!!!
