Many residents currently pay between $700 and $800 a month in rent. Some say they have lived in the building for 30 or 40 years and fear they will not be able to find comparable housing in Woodlawn if rents rise or the property is redeveloped. Tenants say they have been offered $2,000 per household to move out.

Less than $1,000 a month for rent in Chicagoland is probably not enough for a landlord to pay the taxes and upkeep, much less make mortgage payments, or significant upgrades to a property. If these apartment buildings are not dumps, they soon will be.

Barry is still paying dividends and the folks that thought he was their savior are still feeling the effects of his presidency. We tried to tell them.
If this bill passes, say goodbye to local control over all Illinois parks and expect to see open drug and alcohol use, needles, no sanitation and fire hazards, but no ordinary park users.
