Chicago Teachers Union leaders question timing of second federal inquiry into finances – Chicago Sun-Times

Chicago Teachers Union President Stacy Davis Gates speaking at the Chicago Teachers Union Center on the Near West Side on Sept. 3, 2025. Union President Stacy Davis Gates said that she’s not surprised that the CTU, under her leadership, is being attacked. As a Black woman, she said she knew she would be vulnerable to being maligned and painted as a crook, which is a historical racist trope.

Could having missed audit reports for four years perhaps have something to do with why the feds are investigating? Add to that Gates claiming a homestead exemption on a house she claims as her primary residence while supposedly living in CHicago does not do her financial credibility any good.

When all else fails, the old reliable race card surfaces! SDG should admit she is inept to hold both her jobs as president of Chicago and State of Illinois teachers unions!

Well she’s not so inept as to send her own kids to CPS schools!

Look back through the financial archives of CTU far enough and you’ll find that Robert Healy left the presidency of CTU to become head of the Chicago Federation of Labor, taking a large severance pay amount as he changed jobs. Jacqueline Vaughn went from CTU vice President to President and also took a “severance” from one position to the next as did Thomas Reese and others as they got bumped up the ladder of “leadership”.
And the children still can’t read or write, but corruption is universal regardless of race!

My god, where to begin? This story isn’t much different than Dick Mell mouthing off to reporters about his son in law Blago abusing his position, triggering a federal investigation leading to Blago eventually to jail. How could the feds not pay attention and act? Bigger question, why has the IL attorney general ignored CTU issues for years and not investigated. We know the answer to that. Multiple reports about Stacy Davis Gates herself not paying her personal bills, getting caught for lying about the homestead exemption on her home in IN and having to pay a fine. This makes my head spin, back to my union days. Any member that does not fully align with the head of a union is black listed. This is just the scratching of the surface in cooking the books. Anytime a group like this is questioned it gets personal. Totally agree with the others. When your doing wrong or shady the claws come out. DON”T EVER QUESTION US! When it comes to race there is only one ( Human)

Yaaaawn, didn’t take her long to play the racist card.

The issue is you need to produce a timely financial report for your union.

Get to work and zip your pie hole!!
