Fleecing the out of towner is a common progressive Dem ploy that’s been around for decades. It started with speed traps where the motorist had to pay the fine on the spot but has morphed into an industry. Think rental car tax and airport usage fees.

There are many popular areas in the southeast and southwest that charge 20% for a “visitors” fee for hotels, homes, etc. The difference there is that you feel like you are getting value for it because public areas and parks are very well maintained and reasonably priced to visit. Chicago? Hard to feel the value when you turn around and pay 10.25% sales tax for everything and have ridiculous parking rates, all while dodging muggers.

Read the article–it’s worth it for the spew of new speak: We need to gut tourists to create more tourists to gut. We need to spend more money to bring conventions to a city that charges more to set up conventions than anyone else and then fleeces the attendees and puts their personal safety at risk. All we need is better publicity. Hold my beer, Tourist.
