It states that a “legitimate governmental reason” for asking for an individual’s gender identity is for the “collection of demographic information reporting on the diversity of city employees” or to “provide better services to the public.” Ald. Andre Vasquez said the change will ensure there is “advocacy and tracking of those who are different and want to identify as nonbinary.”
If this bill passes, say goodbye to local control over all Illinois parks and expect to see open drug and alcohol use, needles, no sanitation and fire hazards, but no ordinary park users.
