Much of the routine trade and investment between China and America is entirely appropriate and in America’s interest. But inserting the Chinese Communist Party into America’s pay-to-play system and its economic development strategy isn’t just crossing a line. It’s a leap into an abyss of stupidity.
Chicago democrats are like,”We have to do something to attract more tourists, visitors, conventions etc to the city”. “Okay, let’s rsise taxes”. In unison, “ GREAT IDEA”.
In this economy, where people with families are trying to save money, wouldn’t this tax make it more expensive to visit our crime ridden city and make people choose a cheaper safer place ? Just asking
Don’t worry, the state has a foolproof occupancy plan: filling those hotel rooms with non-citizens on your dime while the actual taxpayers are priced out. It’s a bold strategy—turning luxury suites into high-priced housing while the rest of us just get the bill. Honestly, for the price of one night in a Chicago hotel these days, you could probably fly the whole family to Disney World. Plus, in Orlando, the only “mugging” happens at the souvenir stand, and you usually get to keep your car.
Only in Chicago would efforts to increase tourism include raising the cost of tourism. Sounds like another jobs and increased salary grab by some in that group.
