Clashes break out on West Side after release of Dexter Reed shooting footage – Chicago Sun-Times

REEDPROTEST-041024-33.jpgActivists “shut down” the intersection of West Harrison Street, and South Kenzie Avenue during a protest over the fatal shooting of Dexter Reed in an exchange of gunfire back in March, Tuesday, April 9, 2024. | Tyler Pasciak LaRiviere/Sun-TimesThe scene caused tensions to flare between police and protesters, with some getting in the faces of cops, berating and taunting them. Things cooled down when Dexter Reed's mother stood between protesters and police, arms outstretched, calling for peace. One person was hospitalized.

Reminds me of the old days 1969 Chicago.
Fred Hampton, the 21-year-old chairman of the Illinois chapter of the Black Panther Party, was killed during a police raid on his home in Chicago on December 4, 1969. The raid was part of a coordinated plot by Chicago police and the FBI. The police shot over 90 bullets into the apartment, killing Hampton and Mark Clark, 22, and critically wounding others

“ Body-worn camera footage released by COPA on Tuesday shows that Reed resisted orders to roll down his car windows and open the door. As officers shouted at him, Reed opened fire and struck one of the officers in the hand, COPA said. The four other officers then opened fire. In a letter to Chicago Police Supt. Larry Snelling, COPA Chief Administrator Andrea Kersten questioned whether the officers lied about why they stopped Reed in Humboldt Park. Kersten also raised “grave concerns about the officers’ ability to assess what is a necessary, reasonable, and proportional use of deadly force.” And… Read more »

Dexter shot a black cop, wounding him in wrist, and Dexter fired at least 12 shots from Dexter’s own unlicensed gun. Dexter had numerous prior arrests, including a gun charge. Dexter had no legal right to possess gun, no legal right to fire gun. All he had to “do” was obey the traffic laws. All Dexter had to do that fateful day was to cooperate with cops during this lawful traffic stop. But nope, Dexter fired first shot, at cops. These facts are missing from Chicago Trib article this morning. Mayor thinks traffic stops are “racist” and “dangerous”, so must… Read more »

There’s a famous video game franchise, Grand Theft Auto, where the player can, in a very realistic way, engage in all sorts of crime and mayhem on city streets with little fear of capture, as long as you can outrun the police. That’s the world BJ wants for his people. Because quite frankly that’s how many of them already live. and if decriminalize formerly criminal acts, then crime goes away.

Mayor Brandon refuses to comment when black children are murdered by his people on a near daily basis; but then gives a press conference lamenting the near-death of another ‘black man’ at the hands of police. You see, these people live in a world of fantasy, of make-believe. They refuse to accept facts, or truth or statistics. They want to believe they are being hunted down by the police and ‘racist structures’ when in fact they are hunting down each other. Because they want to hunt down each other like uncivilized criminals. They just get mad when police stop them… Read more »

Your absolutely right about them living in a fantasy world. Decades of successful brainwashing has brought them to this stage.

Dexter wasn’t carrying that gun to shoot at police. He just happened to use it against the police because he had the chance. He was carrying a gun to hunt down other black men like prey. He was the hunter, his fellow gangbangers were his prey, and its likely he’s responsible for (but not conclusively linked to) other shootings in the area, where innocent bystanders and, and black children, have been maimed or killed. This man is a predator within his own community, and if he were white, everyone in the so-called ‘white’ community secretly, or not so secretly, hope… Read more »

A copycat St George Floyd is about to be named. Stay tuned for the Burnlng, Looting, and Murdering spree to begin. The new hero only shot and severely wounded a cop but fired 11 times at officers as well. Start clearing a spot on Michigan Ave for the new St Dexter Reed. Media is flooding their publications with photos from his kindergarten graduation and the list of his lifetime achievements are flowing as well. The incompetent mayor has already thrown the cops under the bus with his infuriating statements demanding police change the way the interact with the public. No… Read more »

Right on schedule. It’s been a few years for a free shoe looting opportunity. Those free shoes from 2021 are getting ratty and old.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
