Column: Does Mayor Lightfoot have fresh solutions for Chicago’s violence? – Chicago Tribune*

David Greising, of the Better Government Association: "But the politics of this are tricky. Complaints about (Judge Timothy) Evans’ bail-reform policies by (Mayor Lori) Lightfoot and police Superintendent David Brown have had no more effect on the judge than Lightfoot’s scapegoating of (State's Attorney Kim) Foxx has had on the state’s attorney."

Nothing she has done has worked, and she has no clue what to do next. She’s calling for help from Merrick Garland now, but he’s riding the same social justice bus as Lil Kim and Judge Tim. The odds makers predict more of the same. Plenty of finger pointing, podium pounding, tough talk, new task forces and murder and mayhem.

Like the rest of the big plans she has proposed she will end up doing nothing. As the violence increases her angry rhetoric increases and she will find a new crime victim to blame. She can’t help it. That’s just what she is, a mean spirited, big talking loser without any real leadership skills.

What about the financial violence that she is doing to the city’s taxpayers!?

Come January 3rd, she’s going to put a whole pile of cops and other critical city workers on non-pay status. The class action lawsuit on this one is going to be enormous–possibly bankrupting the city.

Only an idiot doesn’t understand this…

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
