Column: GOP’s soul on ice after Supreme Court rejects map challenge – Champaign News-Gazette*

Jim Dey: "Jim Nowlan, a state department head under past Republican governors and a retired University of Illinois government professor, opines that 'if something isn’t done,' Republicans will be 'dead in the water at least until 2041.' That kind of talk is music to the ears of ruling partisan Democrats. After all, to the victor go the spoils, and there are lot of spoils to go around with the state’s $50 billion-plus annual budget."

The DNC did this in full view of the RNC. Illinois is Gerrymandered top to bottom. The DNC is unlikely to voluntarily surrender its power, even if it was illegally and unconstitutionally obtained.

Leaving is the only real option.

Every Republican in IL needs to deprive the state of any money in any way possible. Buy out of state, vacation out of state and otherwise deprive IL of every penny possible. Let this thing try and survive on the welfare/ pension crowd they love so much and watch it slide down the same slope as CA, NJ and NY, all truly miserable places to live with people fleeing them by the millions.

Seems like a lot of work instead of just moving out of the state. Your strategy would just result in more tax increases in other areas to make up for the short fall. Also, don’t people that live in Illinois typically vacation out of state?
