Paul Vallas, former Chicago budget director and CEO of Chicago Public Schools: "This city of Chicago is facing a code red fiscal crisis. It needs an aggressive financial contingency plan to prepare for the severe financial crisis that is currently materializing as a result of the coronavirus pandemic and resultant shutdown of most of the economy."
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
Fool. CPS has had a code brown financial crisis for years
… and as a result of … c’mon, you can say it … many years of fiscal mismanagement. There, that wasn’t so hard.
But but no layoffs or spending cuts? How about a $1.00 per plastic shopping bag surcharge? Or charge people $5 to use a plastic straw?
