The articles linking to the 2018 article supporting no bail reduces crime is hilariousness. Even the local NPR station says “But there’s no way of knowing if the reduction in crime had anything to do with bail reform.” The five comments are great too! One commenter from 2018 says it is like the purge where criminals aren’t even arrested or charged in the first place, so, yes, crime is ‘down’. I like the local station comment you found, good job! You have to click on DECREASE IN OVERALL CRIME link embedded to find that. So, when I looked at that it is 2016 vs 2018 stats, I am always suspicious when there is a gap when something went into effect. I did 2 searches of New Jersey crime stats and they have been coming down for years, congrats to NJ state. Martwick is another LOL person. I wonder where Martwick got the data to put the law into effect, hope it wasn’t 2016 vs 2018 data chart.
