Here in Streeterville, nearby drag-racing is often heard late at night. Racers careen around our city-block, racing their car-engines, loudly braking while rounding corners, uninterrupted for several hours while we try to sleep. No cops here, of course.

Let’s hope this turns out well. It is a nationally televised and internationally promoted event. Could be a bright spot for Chicago which has had very little to brag about the last year. Despite the fact that the City got hosed on the measly $500k payment by NASCAR, NASCAR does know how to run a first class event if the host city– and its residents– do their part.
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
