Much of the routine trade and investment between China and America is entirely appropriate and in America’s interest. But inserting the Chinese Communist Party into America’s pay-to-play system and its economic development strategy isn’t just crossing a line. It’s a leap into an abyss of stupidity.
I believe that Mayor Daley had quite a lot of influence when the Illinois TIF law was written. While I can understand the current frustration with Johnson, which I agree with, the real finger pointing should be at Daley who worked the system quite well in his favor leaving the rest of us to deal with it. Of course the voters chose Daley so everyone should be happy so why the long faces?
Are we not surprised? Mayor Johnson is like a uneducated juvenile playing with a toy he does not understand. His grandstanding further identifies him as unqualified. He simply does not know of what he speaks. His financial mismanagent borders on fraud.
Wait till next year’s Chicago budget when there are no TIF funds to raid!
