CPD Failed to Document 267K Traffic Stops in 2025, 27% More Than Previous Year – WTTW (Chicago)

CPD leaders, city officials and representatives of Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul have been negotiating behind closed doors for the better part of a year over whether CPD officers should be banned from making traffic stops based on minor registration or equipment violations that are designed to find evidence of “unrelated” crimes.

The smartest move by any cop in Chicago is to nothing. Collect a check, take a report and forget about traffic issues or arresting anybody because it just ain’t worth it. Hiring down and who, if I may ask, would want a job that has multiple investigative agencies reviewing every speck of your activity all of the time. Nonsensical paper work trying to show raysssiiss police that has been around for years and has filled boxes full of “blue cards” and nothing else. The raysssiss lie persists with zero evidence yet the hoax continues.

Do it statewide so I don’t have to pay yearly license renewal.

True to form, WTTW, Pravda west so it seems, is johnny on the spot with the data re traffic stops, but doesn’t bother to document, or even acknowledge, the drugs and guns confiscated during such stops nor the felons with outstanding warrants also discovered during them. I’m certain that the data exists. Anyone can read how everyday, everywhere people on the lam and breaking the law one way or another are brought down by expired tags, broken taillights and too heavily tinted windows. That’s far too inconvenient for the likes of WTTW to admit.
