An infusion of federal pandemic relief funding led to the increase in overnight travel. In one case, a principal booked a luxury hotel on the Las Vegas Strip away from a conference they were attending — and stayed an extra day on the district’s dime to celebrate an anniversary with his spouse. In another, an elementary school paid a travel agency $20,000 for a staff development trip to Egypt that included visits to museums and tours more “akin to tourism than typical professional development.”
And no criminal charges. Clearly theft of taxpayer’s money.

I laughed at the line,”there was no significant oversight”. The place is broke, they’ve wasted hundreds of millions and the kids can’t read, add or even attend regularly. It has been that way for over half a century. Maybe it’s time to form a blue ribbon committee to find out what happened! Are either Robert Healey or Jackie Vaughn available to get to the bottom of this?

Because the taxpayers owe the principal a special night with his “ boo “ and perhaps a fact finding trip to see why 6 year olds in Finland and Estonia are smarter than CPS graduates? CPS seems to have adopted J. B. Wentworth’s mantra- “ It’s your money, use it when you need it!”.

Hahaha – Absolutely stunning. A broke school district, endlessly on strike, bitching and begging for more money, send their staff to Vegas for a “conference”/vacation/anniversary…and an elementary school was going to pay for staff to go to Egypt…!? Egypt. As I type that it seems ridiculously unbelievable. Someone caught that one before it happened. One trip list a $4,700, week long conference trip to Hawaii…WTF? CPS still uses TRAVEL AGENCIES and has approved contractors to schedule travel…huh? This travel agency does not have a contract with CPS and added 20% of hidden fees onto the trip costs. Good God. If this bill passes, say goodbye to local control over all Illinois parks and expect to see open drug and alcohol use, needles, no sanitation and fire hazards, but no ordinary park users.
And no criminal charges. Clearly theft of taxpayer’s money.
