Rep. Tom Demmer said Republicans stand with the majority of Illinoisans who voted against the graduated income tax plan. “That should be off the table. The voters have spoken. The people of Illinois have spoken and we should not be considering further graduated tax amendments or further income tax increases.”
If this bill passes, say goodbye to local control over all Illinois parks and expect to see open drug and alcohol use, needles, no sanitation and fire hazards, but no ordinary park users.
Good call Demmers. Michigan does tax retirement income and that’s something Illinois should not aspire to.
