Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. More fear porn.
We all know that Lightfoot & Co. need to distract the public from the carjackings and murders in every neighborhood of the city, so they’ve brought back covid. It’s not going to work.
Be very afraid of that which won’t harm you (China virus).
Don’t be afraid of that which can kill you (wildings, car-jacking, i.e., casual visit to Chi-raq)
Actually, quit living in fear of either of those things. Statistically, you are more likely to be killed from Covid than being murdered in Chicago. The left driving in cars by themselves with a mask on. The right afraid of big cities because of the extreme unlikely event of being murdered. Like children afraid of the boogeyman under their bed. Obviously, many people just scare easily.
You miss the point. Perhaps intentionally. Likely not.
It’s not fear that keeps the right out of big cities. It’s repulsion of what the left creates. Lawlessness and the decay/destruction/death that it brings is simply something the right doesn’t want any part of.
There’s only one side promoting fear. Coincidentally, they’re the same people that believe you can pay people not to work for decades at a time.
The other side simply wants freedom from them and everything they create.
And watch their response will be the same dumb headed one that denies the basic medical concept of immunity not applying only to this virus but not other viruses. Basically a political response. We are blessed with a non-deadly variant of Covid that imparts strong natural immunity if you contract it. This is the pattern of viruses, viruses that kill all their hosts don’t survive, viruses that find a way to live without killing their hosts (i.e. common cold) survive for centuries. The next Covid response has to be all about living with it, not shutting down society, lockdowns and… Read more »
What happened to “We are not going to rely on *case numbers* but use *the number of hospitalizations & deaths* to make our decisions”…????
Oh, that’s right, low hospitalizations & deaths are just not scary enough, so it’s back to the old CASES – CASES – CASES…!
Next level above high is “Danger Will Robinson”
We’re done playing Covid. Better come up with a new scam to control the voters.
