Also on the table is an extension of the Chicago Real Estate Transfer Tax to the collar counties, which taxes $1.50 for every $500 during the transfer of a property to fund public transit. Collar County dollars would be used for Metra and Pace transit needs, not for the CTA. Revenue estimate: $82 million
Wasn’t long ago that tolls went up to 40 cents. 80 cents if you didn’t have a transponder. Hard to imagine where all the toll money is going. Especially considering that a $1 toll surcharge will net the state an estimated 1 billion.

IL is certainly innovative when it comes to raising taxes. AND, the collar counties will now have to pay the Chicago Real Estate Transfer Tax? Are Cook, DuPage, Will, Kane, Lake, McHenry county residents aware and willing to pay this tax?

Gotta keep the bond buyers happy.
Remember, they’re the ones who really own Illinois.
One day the people of Illinois will figure this out.

The Illinois Mismanagement Machine needs to implement at least some of these taxpayer/resident-abusive ideas to keep the Illinois Bloat Machine, you know, bloated.
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
