Cartoonist Scott Stantis on the job description for the deputy mayor of labor relations put out by Mayor Brandon Johnson."Which brings us to the job description for the Deputy Mayor of Labor Relations, as released Monday, inauguration day. Read it for yourself: The Deputy Mayor for Labor Relations is responsible for working with all City agencies and departments to foster, promote and develop the welfare of the wage earners, job seekers and retirees of Chicago; improve working conditions; advance opportunities for profitable employment; and assure work-related benefits and rights, including working with relevant authorities to help enforce workers’ statutory rights."

Well, it’s hard to fault Brandon for doing exactly what he and the CTU promised voters they’d do if they elected him.

Nor is it Brandon-n-the-CTU’s fault that all they needed were 15% +/- of Chicago’s eligible voters to put them in charge.

Chicago’s got a fatal disease all right, but Brandon-as-mayor is just a symptom.

$200,000 Pension Couples

Talk about a disincentive for companies that were contemplating Chicago operations. On the plus side, at least the mayor has laid all his card upon the table early on. Now any executive who dares mention the Windy City will find it to be at least a career-limiting and maybe a career-ending recommendation.

Any bets on how long before the Tier 2 designation is completely abolished? Tier 1 and six figure pension potential for all full career teachers!

You may want to change your moniker. It’s becoming outdated. I know some pension couples closer to $300K.

Hmm, where’s the part about property taxpayers getting their money’s worth? It used to be called “value.”

foster, promote and develop the welfare of the wage earners, job seekers

Couldn’t say employed and unemployed? Still makes job seekers sound like 2nd class citizens.

advance opportunities for profitable employment

I thought profits were bad?

Mayor Johnson shows his true colors on first day on job. CTU now effectively controls governance of CIty of Chicago, will govern for sole purpose of enhancing CTU power and increasing benefits to CTU members. Maybe new “Deputy Mayor of CTU” decides CTU teachers can teach from home, without any contact with students, without lesson plans and/or homework, relying on power of “thought-projection” to pretend-teach their students.

I thought they were doing that already – the outcomes are so poor, there must be a reason.

Pity all CPS students!
