Editorial: We endorse J.B. Pritzker for Illinois governor – Chicago Tribune*

"Even among those who did not support him politically, he engendered trust during some of the darkest hours in the history of this great state. We need to remember that. It is crucial to Pritzker’s case for a second term."

“Engendered trust?!?!” In whom?

He “approached his podium every day with a humility?” I believe they misspelled ‘hubris.’

Pritzker’s a fraud on so many levels; the author of this tripe should hang its head in shame for this column and endorsement … but s/he won’t.

Dear Tribune, I will be calling during tomorrow’s business hours to cancel my Sunday delivery… You had a choice. You could have refrained from endorsing either candidate.

Wow, wouldn’t that have been a thing… Thinking and leading.

Instead you choose Mr. No Toilet guy. What a freaking joke of a periodical you are.

Journalists? My ass.

Well in that case, we are going to endorse Duckworth. If we can’t have Martin Eden as a reader then we will be honest and provide endorsements for the best candidates. Vote Duckworth.

I see a lot of “JB” signs out in my downstate community. It is the will of the Illinois voter. After all remember without FDR’s give away programs Illinois would cease to exist…or so they say

No surprise. The Trib hasn’t been itself for at least five years , maybe ten. If you read any of their columns of substance it is 80 percent or sometimes more NYT and AP product bylines. They don’t cover crime adequately, pension woes at all, businesses leaving Illinois sparingly, and the migration of wealthy residents to other state not at all. Look at their circulation numbers. They gave up on Springfield coverage many years ago. Even the dumbed down Illinois residents don’t buy it anymore.

I cancelled years ago when the top story in the sunday paper was about the poor illegal immigrant and tax cheat who ran an unpermitted stand tamales for 30 years in Pilsen. The story said it was a shame that he sells fewer tamales because the neighborhood gentrified. And what a shame it is that he doesn’t get free health insurance from the state.

My favorite story about how far the Chicago Tribune has fallen relates to us moving out of Illinois. I’d been a subscriber for years (since I was a college student) but got tired of overpaying for a poor quality newspaper. I switched to the Sun-Times for a while, then after that stopped reading the paper altogether. Fast forward to us moving out of Illinois. We moved out of state but thanks to the Illinois hideous property taxes it took a long time to sell our house. Once when we came back to move further items out of it to bring… Read more »

Since Bailey is only likely to get around 40% of the vote, it makes sense that the Tribune wouldn’t want to back this loser. His make believe budget cuts didn’t convince them. Bailey is not a serious candidate and has been unable to connect to the voters. Time to go back to full time farming.

The media has completely ignored Bailey. They act as if he doesn’t exist. He’s not paying them $$$ for ads. He’s connecting with voters. The ones that seek him out. Otherwise he’s a complete non-entity. But that’s not a problem, in a red wave, upsets happen all the time, even without $$$. Remember Melissa Bean in McHenry County when Joe Walsh the tea party candidate beat her out? Dude was sleeping in his car and behind on child support and he beat her pretty good during a red wave 2010 year. I think Bailey is going to get more than… Read more »

So you believe JB wins because the Dems are rounding up all these mail-in ballots to fraudulently cast?

no, I believe the election will be 100% fraud-free, and it will be the safest, most secure election ever. There will be no shenanigans or dirty tricks, and *every* vote cast – including the unknown number of undated ballots that will be delivered by the post office in the 14 days after the election will be total legit and fraud free. JB’s tens of millions of dollars he’s sending into D+95 precincts for ‘get out the vote’ will not result in a single miscast or fraudulently obtained vote. And when homeless shelters and nursing homes report thousands of votes all… Read more »

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/the-untold-story-of-beverly-miles-ignored-campaign-for-il-governor/ar-AAZ3sEM Certainly, nurse Beverly Miles never posed a serioius threat to the incumbent billionaire’s chances of earning his party’s nomination. Pritzker filled his campaign war chest with more than $100 million. He paid top campaign workers the equivalent of six-figure salaries. Petition circulators got triple the going rate — $10 a signature. He spends around 40,000 a month to hop around the state in a private jet. [SNIP SNIP] Brought ‘The Bag’ Early Miles said she met nothing but opposition from politicos with their finger on the pulse of Black communities in Chicago. “A lot of people thanked me for… Read more »

Has any news outlet tried to find out how much ‘the bag’ was?

Has any news outlet tried to figure out what the bag currently is for November?

How much money is he paying people to ballot harvest? Tens of millions? Maybe a hundred million? All that money sloshing around to ballot harvest…

What a spectacularly stupid column. He “engendered trust” on covid”? “few could argue that he has been fiscally irresponsible? He “approached his podium every day with a humility”? “Illinois has been efficiently run”? Pritzker “has hired capable people”? Good God. An honest endorsement could have been written from the left’s perspective, focusing on the things important to them. Instead, this column claims his worst failures as his successes.

How many political ad dollars did JBPutin’s direct towards the Tribune for this endorsement? It’s not like the Trib was ever going to not back JB Pritzker…

Mark-Pritzker probably wrote the article. I’ll fix the headline. I (J. B. Pritzker) endorse MYSELF for Illinois governor.
