Embattled Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan gets backing for reelection from majority of Latinx Caucus – Yahoo News

From the Chicago Tribune: In a statement from the caucus Friday, state Reps. Elizabeth “Lisa” Hernandez and Fred Crespo said that because of the state’s troubled finances, the need for recovery from COVID-19 and a desire for increased representation in the approaching redrawing of legislative districts, “the majority of Latinx members determined that Speaker Madigan is in the best position to move these priorities forward in the coming term.”

The Latinx caucus is no different than Black caucus–completely dependent on the machine for funding & gerrymandering /redistricting.

This is anglo-imperialism, forcing spanish speakers to use gender neural terms in a gendered language.

You can bet the 4 Latinx politicians which are among the 19 opposing Madigan will flip.

He has the votes. This opposition is just “show” to make it look good. Madigan will allow some of them to vote no, because they are in districts that might vote Republican. After the vote, he will give a generalized speech about coming together to help all Illinoisians, balancing the budget, solving the problems that confront us. He will not be apologetic. Then, he will dole out the candy to the people who led the charge to vote for him. If there are true dissenters, they will be punished and primaries.
