The decision comes after two other district courts ruled in favor of the law — sending this issue to the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and potentially the Supreme Court. These long-awaited challenges that will test the Democratic calls for removing all AR-15s and similar weapons, including calls from President Joe Biden.
“A lot of people argue, this statute is unconstitutional. No, the statute is constitutional when applied to the subjects it was written for. For example, I’m arguing taxes are constitutional, but when applied to a subject they were not meant for, they become unconstitutional. Why? Because they violate due process. They violate the rights that are secured in your state and federal constitution. So don’t go in and argue that it’s unconstitutional, argue that it’s being misapplied to you. … So in other words if you have 6 legal entities in a definition, with the first one ‘person’, it can’t… Read more »

Go on YouTube and watch the judicial committee hearings on biden appointments to the federal bench. The questioning is so revealing about a group of incompetent uber liberal candidates who simply refuse to answer questions and whose legal opinions are so far left that eventually we, the United States, will be a communist paradise as these people will decide the future. Of course they are unanimously approved and appointed by democrats who just don’t care.

Yesterday, a Trump appointed judge, on the bench since, September 16, 2020, ruled at the gun grabber law is very likely unconstitutional, and gives an injunction.
Biden judge on the bench for 60 days, appointed on February 24, 2023, decided last week, that the law in its entirety, was constitutional, and denied to issue injunction.
I have my opinions if the law is constitutional or not, but these days, justice depends entirely on which president appointed your federal court judge.
Spot on, debtsor. Politicized judges are everywhere now. But be aware that much of the public, including some commenters here, look at legal decisions the same way. It they don’t like the result they think it’s a wrong legal decision. People just don’t understand that court decisions should be made on the basis of a principle that works in all cases, not just the one at hand, and that it should be based on precedent, statutes, the Constitution and rules validly enacted.
The four corners rule of the Constitution does not matter to liberals and democrats and that is quite apparent. It is not a living document that changes based on the opinions of the so called educated ones.
I think JB paid $$$ big money to help elect the two ultra-liberal crazy justices. They are absolutely both gun grabbers. I’ve seen, on other sites, multiple Facebook pictures of one of them appearing with gun grabbing groups. Their response to the motion to recuse in the gun grabber case, that an attack on them is an attack on the court, is very indicative of the level of corruption. I mean, the IL SC just had Ed Burke’s WIFE as the Chief Justice. She had insufficient legal acumen to be on the supreme court, much less chief justice, yet, here… Read more »

These bills are purposely written & proposed to elicit legal challenges…
Thus ensuring select law firms continued benefit of tax payer monies, some of which will be “donated” back to their (D) enablers…
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.

What do you think of the two JB bought and paid for judges on the Illinois Supreme Court? What will be their ruling on the Safe T Act?
