Fight over multi-billion dollar quantum computer campus on South Side not over – FOX32 (Chicago)

A representative from Southside Together told the crowd: "We don’t need a quantum facility in our community. We don’t need a data center in our community. We need spaces for youth where activities can be held, spaces where people can congregate and learn about job opportunities."

With businesses there are jobs. However I believe these protesters realize they will have no chance in getting one do to their qualifications, or lack of

Data centers don’t generate all that much employment. Every time I visit one of my client’s data centers, I am surprised at how few people work there across all three shifts. The one nearest my home employs about 50. There are high level skill people working to, for example, to meet security standards and certifications, but in many cases such talents are consultants who have no need to work full time at the facilities. Construction is expensive compared to other buildings so there’s that. To cut costs, these facilities are owned by outfits like Equinix, which enter into co-location agreements… Read more »

Well the jobs that it would bring probably wouldn’t hire any CPS graduates only because they would have to be proficient in reading and writing.
