Filthy homeless encampment is set up inside O’Hare Airport, with vagrants now living next to baggage belts in crime-ridden Windy City – Daily Mail

Thousands of people sleeping rough have sought refuge at the popular thoroughfare where an average of 2,520 passengers travel each day, according to a study between 2000 and 2020Passengers were quick to snap the deteriorating situation: several people sleeping among a throng of belongings near Terminal 1; a man collapsed inside an entrance vestibule; another slumped over with no shoes on; and a group of half a dozen people who have taken over an indoor area next to the escalators.

Where are these poor victims of society supposed to go? The Hyatt Hotels?

You’re only seeing what’s camped out around the terminals. How many are living in the labyrinth of tunnels, access walkways, baggage conveyor systems, utility tunnels, access to terminals and air operations?

Public property BS as ruled on by the courts. This is a public safety issue that should allow squatters in a place like the airport to be removed. The street is public property and if bums want to settle on a sidewalk, go ahead. Any terrorist learning about this situation could easily go to O’Hare with any sort of explosive device, no screening to walk in the doors, settle down next to some crowded area of waiting passengers and boom! Public safety issue, not public access issue. SAFE T act adds another layer of stupidity, thanks democrats.

We’re gonna need a bigger airport.

Probably not, nixit. At the rate we are going, Chicago won’t even need an airport. Who wants to go to Chicago?

Why the concern? Chicago is a sanctuary City so some are simply seeking sanctuary. What’s the big deal Chicagoites?

The Chitty of Chicago is in a freefall. It is going to only have the poor and the government Lackie soon. Give it 5 more years or less. No money, no education, no law enforcement. Kiss the Chitty goodbye. Things are good compared to what is waiting for you down the road. The Lust for huge pensions has destroyed the ability of the Chitty to do anything but go bankrupt.

One of the few reasons I still come back into Illinois is cheaper flights out of Ohare. Ohare itself is nothing special, so if it changes from being a neutral experience to unpleasant, I’ll just pay the higher fare at a closer airport in my state.

We can predict the Chicago/Illinois response to the reduced revenue resulting from passengers avoiding Ohare. Rather than correct the problems, they will find a way to tax, or increase the tax, on the passengers that continue to use the airport. Then they will wonder why even more passengers start avoiding Ohare.

“Meanwhile, in downtown Evanston…” Street cleaning crew sees a vagrant pissing Monday in downtown Evanston’s Fountain Square. They confront him, the piss bum escalates into violence, and now the libtards in Evanston are blaming the *cleaners* for the “problem”: watching the video it is very clear who is the “instigator”. So what does Evanston do… read and weep, comrades…!!! https://evanstonnow.com/clean-team-suspended-after-fight/ ‘Clean team’ suspended after fight by Bill Smith – February 14, 2023 “A fight in Fountain Square Monday has led to suspension of the Streetplus “Clean Team” program designed to clean up Evanston’s business districts. One way to resolve the woke nonsense in Evanston is to serve the vagrants chipped beef at the local feeding center. Citizens will soon be grateful for the aggressive street cleaning.

I used to fly out of Chicago alot on Brannif and before 9-11. Used to be cheap and fast. Had a bad experience coming back from Detroit into Midway. A cop thought I was a luggage thief and frisked me once. 10 minutes later he came back and frisked me again. He was a POC cop and the 2nd time I wanted to discuss “racial profiling” but kept my mouth shut. Later I read on Second City Cop that all the flunky cops ended up at airports. My last trip thru Ohare was bad too. 7 hour delay and $5… Read more »

The last time we read about this, couple of weeks ago, O’Hare said that sleeping there because you’re homeless is trespassing, but that the Chicago Police Department won’t arrest homeless trespassers.

The CPD said, “Yep, but it’s not our fault.”

Then they all banded together to talk about all of the millions-n-millions of dollars worth of programs-n-shelters that they’ve created to help the homeless, and how shocked they are that the homeless problem’s grown worse.

Be interesting to see if everyone sticks to their guns this time around.

Well according to the new state law, there is absolutely nothing the police can do but issue them a ticket and leave. So those great lawmakers in Springfield have really caused this mess

As I posted on another site: The cop’s hands are tied because if they do the right thing and shoo them away someone will record them on their Sail Foam and it’ll be on YouTube, Instagram, and Twitter with complaints about how cruel the coppers are and the officers will be hauled in and fired.

So they’ll leave them alone.

Butt plug is too busy in the ORD restroom seeking men with a “wide stance”. If they are homeless that’s OK with butt plug; love is love. Plus he doesnt have to pay them as much money.

It’s really quite shocking how fast progressivism causes the complete collapse of previously functioning institutions and complex systems. It’s almost like it happens overnight. Even more disturbing, is that the homeless emcampments in the airport is just the visible symptom of the rot, where the rot behind the scenes and below the surface is far deeper than any of us can imagine.

Chicago residents should be happy that this is so visible. It places the results Progressivism on full display for all to see. Anybody that has spent any time in San Francisco knows exactly how this looks as is spreads further around the city. We’ve also witnessed the “locals” getting upset with the red carpet that’s been rolled out for the illegals. Eventually these “locals” will need to decide if they want to vote based on identity politics or what is best for themselves and their families. Eventually a leader will connect to the frustration of these voters. In the meantime,… Read more »

I totally get the schadenfreude / you get what you deserve angle when mocking liberal values. But encouraging liberals to destroy Chicago is good for no one. Because it destroys Chicago. The goal should be reversing the destruction, not encouraging it. The problem though is that progressives have religious and ideological belief in their values. Even the supposed reasonableness moderate liberals who vote Democrats is not enough to stop the onward march of progressivism. In fact, most moderate liberals just get in line with the progressives. That’s how we end up with thousands of homeless people living in our airports… Read more »

I’m not disputing with you the ills of progressivism. I don’t think the majority of the people on the left think anything like progressives. It will only be defeated when the rest of the left sees its destruction on full display. When conservatives try to point out the problems with progressive ideals, they are simply not believed. Some people actually need to touch the hot stove and get burned before they will learn.

A Republic if we can keep it.

“It will only be defeated when the rest of the left sees its destruction on full display.” This is wishful thinking because you rely on the reasonableness of rest of the left to stop the onward march of the progressivism. But the failures of progressivism are on full display, and yet, progressivism continues its unstoppable onward march. The left will never stand up to their progressive wing. Even the most reasonable Democrats seem to just get in line with the progressive agenda. They’ll never push back. Unless conservatives can stop this nonsense, which seems nearly impossible, then the ultimate result… Read more »

If reasonable dems don’t stop it then it won’t stop. Conservatives don’t have the numbers either. You will need the middle, which today’s politics like to ignore.

I think you’re right, we need the middle, but the middle doesn’t seem to be coming around, at all. The middle seems to be disappearing into the far left progressive world, as they adopt progressive beliefs. I truly believe that it’s all just going to collapse in on itself and may never get any better. I don’t wish that on anyone.

Interesting exchange. My 2 cents…Chicago can’t be saved. It could 5-10 years ago but now the city/state debt is too heavy. The middle you discussed has either accepted the progressive agenda or is looking at the exits. The voting math increasingly improves for the progressives. Also, isn’t it human nature at some point to just give up when almost every time you vote the other guy wins. So why bother if your plan is to leave in a couple years?
