Illinois and five other Midwestern states opted out of a federal waiver regarding the weight of E10 gasoline, hoping the federal government would require year-round sales of E15. Gov. JB Pritzker renewed his call for year-round E15 sales last month, saying the fuel blend with 15 percent ethanol would increase demand for corn by 2 billion bushels a year.
Trump and JB are in agreement on E15. They both want it year round but congress needs to vote on this and currently they have not approved of year round use of E15. As to your statement of higher gas prices bringing in more tax revenue, that’s not correct. Our gas tax is priced in cents per gallon not a percentage of the price of a gallon. Correct me if I am wrong but isn’t there a sales tax on gasoline in Illinois as well as the per gallon motor fuel tax?
E15 SUCKS and extremely to produce without Federal subsidies it would never be affordable.
Perhaps if JB wants it so much gut the state tax on it.
