Gov. JB Pritzker’s ambitious housing plan for Illinois: More four-flats, looser rules – Chicago Tribune/Yahoo

The newly-constructed third floor unit is visible above an exisiting...It’s an ambitious effort that could reshape housing from Chicago to Peoria and across downstate Illinois. But while Pritzker is trying to build support for a far-reaching proposal backed by housing advocates and many developers, he faces opposition from local leaders who say the sweeping approach is wrong for their communities.

All this being thrust upon common citizens, while communist dictator, pritzger and his politburo probably live in spacious mansions and some in gated communities.

“Eight units on lots bigger than 7,500 square feet.” Think about that. Most suburbs have 1960’s split levels on 7,500 sq foot lots, with a small front and back yard, and a driveway, an attache garage. Now imagine cramming eight units onto that tiny lot. With no additional parking. Two or more of which would need to be ‘affordable housing’ per state and local rules. Imagine being one of the unfortunate homeowners in Schaumburg or Crest Hill or Love’s Park having one of these things get put up next to you. You would have 12-16 cars parked in front of… Read more »

I was thinking about that in regards to my first house in Will County. I was on a 120X60 foot lot which is 7,200 sq. ft. I had a 1,500 sq. foot 3 BR, 1 BA, 2 car garage house placed pretty much dead center of that lot. To do what is proposed is to put a multi-story apartment complex on that lot with no garages, street parking, and maybe a foot between each side of the building and the property boundaries.

Yeah, people are going to love that.

50×150 is 7,500 sq feet. That’s an oversized city lot. Heck right now, Schaumburg has over 60 homes for sale over 8,000 sq feet (the minimum I could search in Redfin). Here’s a small ranch on a 9,000 sq ft lot (80 X 114). Imagine some developer tearing this down and building and 8 or 10 unit apartment building (20% low income or more!). There would be 14 cars parked up and down the street 24/7. JB’s rules say they can only limit parking at .5 spaces PER UNIT. So an 8 unit building needs only 4 parking spots, which… Read more »

JB the Hutt can start with Wilmette, Winnetka, Barrington, Lisle, and Downers Grove. Let the AWFL enclaves lead the way.

Don’t forget Naperville!

Indeed, The AWFL Republic of Naperville should have its sidewalks covered in tents, trash and needles. The urine perfume wafting over the riverwalk will send a shiver of delight through Naperville’s AWFLs.

I would simply suggest LaGrange and Western Springs – The howling would be epic.

Build low income housing next to all Pritzker’s and the Democrats houses. JB wants to put section housing in conservative areas to take these areas over. There are plenty of houses and vacant lots in Chicago. Put them there. Just more legislation to control people. Cities and villages need to have control over what is built in their communities.

JB lives very close to low-income housing. His place on Astor Street is a little more than a mile away from some ghetto buildings on Sedgwick Avenue.

Pritzker obviously knows better. If he weren’t that smart, he wouldn’t have all that money, right?

King Pritzker wants Section 8 in every town in IL. How about some on his block on Astor St. as a show of good faith? Convert his spare mansion, put his own money where his mouth is.

First the state will tell the Cities what and where they can build and then they will tell the citizens where they can live and with whom. Yeah, more bike lanes, less cars, greater density, especially since they don’t want local control of homeless people. Paradise found!

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
