What is documented Columbus and his men enslaved Indigenous people in the Caribbean after arriving in 1492. Some of those enslaved individuals were transported to Spain. Historical accounts (including those by Bartolomé de las Casas) describe widespread sexual violence and exploitation, including abuse of Indigenous girls by Spanish colonists.
