IL Senate passes plan requiring court date reminder texts for people on pretrial release – WAND (Decatur)

"About 80 percent of the population of the state has local pretrial service agencies that already provide this service and are paying for it," state Sen. Bill Cunningham said. "There are other counties and pretrial services agencies that do not have this technology. There is a provision that they would be provided grants through the statewide office."

Fed Up Taxpayer

I thought that minorities could not afford phones or internet. How are they going to receive texts?

Why the taxpayers will buy them a phone, then an UBER to court and home again and if the drive occurs in the lunch hour, a meal! 2nd round, new clothes for each court appearance with a stop at the Electronic Monitoring store to clean it. Pseudo prison is such a negative experience!
