Here in Rockford we are building a $505 million Mercy healthcare hospital. No property taxes whatsoever. We are burdened with some of the highest taxes in the state and the country. Question – Who is responsible for police and fire at the hospitals? They will be making 10’s of millions in profit when opened. The other hospitals are also building at a feverish pace none of which pay any property taxes only the stand alone special clinics do.

Hospitals (like governments) are exempt from Federal Income Tax and often get property tax exemptions as well. The entire tax-exempt field has been wide open for abuse, and the entities and their high-paid administrators and employees are rushing through the doors. We’ve all read about the clergy scammers who flee the jurisdiction with millions in their pockets or the college football coaches with special charitable foundations to pay salary supplements. There are licensed investment planners, CPAs, tax lawyers and others to pave their privileged pathways. Not to mention executives of charities making millions. They “do well by doing good.” https://www.google.com/search?q=the+old+dope+peddler&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b-1

Thanks. Great video and so true. On a side note. With all these hospitals how many people are truly being helped or cured of any ailment. I found thru trial & error and research that if you keep your vitamin D3 and magnesium b vitamins and probiotics at optimum levels your health will improve dramatically. Most doctors are unaware of nutritional deficiencies we have yet cancer centers and hospitals are flourishing.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
