Note to readers from Mark Glennon re: Ukraine

Everybody needs a side hustle these days, and mine is Ukraine, where I am now.

If this bill passes, say goodbye to local control over all Illinois parks and expect to see open drug and alcohol use, needles, no sanitation and fire hazards, but no ordinary park users.
Private schools are just that, Private. They can make their own rules. If you don’t like it, take your kids out and send them elsewhere. Public Schools perhaps – because they are much more liberal. The State of Illinois legislature needs to spend time on the financial condition of the state and reducing the enormous tax burdon on citizens and stop getting into crap where they have no business. This is another distraction from the real issues they should solving.
Even students at private schools face anti-Semitism. This law would help
combat that all too common hate. There is only conceivable reason that a person would oppose a law which specifically combats anti-Semitism.
Anti-Semitism? Nah, that’s not it – not for me anyway. The concern is that this is more and more control of private schools and then an open door for the State Government to pass more and more laws that govern private/religious schools operations, reporting, teaching requirements, curriculum and dictate their operation. Pass all the laws you want on Public Schools… I guess I’d be surprised and might rethink it if they were able to site even one real case.

Orthodox students don’t attend public schools — they attend private day schools or yeshivas.
Private schools. If you don’t like the rules, go elsewhere.
If you don’t like Illinois’ rules, go elsewhere. Otherwise you will follow the laws that govern the state.
And vote for people that “ Spamberger “ ( say one thing and do the opposite once in office) the public. But that’s our fault for believing in the integrity of politicians, right?
That’s the point. It isn’t a law.
The point is they are proposing changing the law. If done, private schools will have to follow the law. Private doesn’t mean you get to ignore laws.
Just because I am curious, what are you free to tell us about yourself? What profession? State employee now or earlier? Maybe you’ve said earlier but if so I missed it.
I hope he doesn’t reply because haters HAVE to hate, and there are plenty of that persuasion here. Believe me, WHATEVER he says will be used to denigrate him by some in short order and maybe turning to something worse if they can start to identify him.
James, most people here are unable to engage in thoughtful debate. I understand Mark’s desire to question my background as most people are tribal and only support things that benefit themselves. Fewer and fewer people decide on issues between right and wrong. Fewer and fewer people want accountability in their direction. So let them throw their fits. The bottom line is that from ancient times one tribe can’t wait to denigrate and do their best to destroy another. Debate is the simplistic belief that you can persuade enough to create a different outcome. Dream on!

I have worked in the private sector my entire life Mark. I don’t work for or with anyone in the public sector. Nor have I ever worked in or plan on working in the public sector. I have private investments in 401k, Roth 401k, IRA, employee restricted stock and options. My financial gains are directly tied to the market and not some pension. This entire comment is a load of bull Mark. This guy would never admit he is wrong, and that is a major red flag. Notice he didn’t even bother to lie with any detail. If the voters approved a pension cut amendment he would throw a fit. He hides behind his blame the voters comment as long as things are going his way, and he won’t if it doesn’t. This guy is a Cap Fax liar, and a state retiree.
I wouldn’t throw a fit if the voters approved an amendment with the hopes it would decrease pensions. I’ve merely stated that doing so won’t allow it to happen. Again, that’s a difference of opinion not a fit. Please, by all means, try and change the constitution. It’s a waste of time in my opinion to your stated goal but whatever keeps you busy. FYI, I signed the petition while I was at Waldron deck tailgating to put Ted on the ballot. You would throw a fit for sure. And you sure aren’t offering Ted support, as he supports cutting pensions, something you defend tooth and nail on here and have forever. This is getting embarrassing for you. How do you have the time to comment so much, by the way? No hobbies?
Why is it some random internet poster’s duty to blindly support Ted? I love this website but do so without supporting Ted’s candidacy. I thought this website was for free thinkers.
You have no duty to support anybody here. We welcome your comments. In fact, we especially like opinions that differ from most other commenters. But you may, at times, need a thick skin.
This guy is making a comment on the internet about himself. I am sure he is telling the truth. Actions tell the story. Defending pensions like it is your job (it just might be) online says that you a pensioner. If you were being honest you would admit that only makes sense, but you aren’t honest. Saying you worked in the private sector your whole life is an ongoing lie that doesn’t add up with your fanatical pension obsession or your delusional taxes can increase forever math. You are a liar. I know it.
We are a nation of laws. That doesn’t mean the content and consequences of the laws are irrelevant. If the only criterion for good law is that a majority approves, it won’t be long before you are no longer a nation of laws. You will have mob rule. And political leaders who are nothing more than the agents for mob rule.
And you think you honor the Constitution with this attitude?
