Illinois democrats announce historic $350 billion investment in Black communities, communities of color – WPSD (Paducah)

Senate Democrats say instead of allowing hundreds of billions of dollars in government assistance to sit at the Treasury, this act would seek to re-program this money during negotiations for a fourth COVID-19 bill, along with the provisions of the House's Heroes Act.

You meant to write, an “additional” $350MM – curiously, how much do engaged parents cost? You know the kind that hold kids to standards, create expectations, teach values… Hmmm…

Otherwise, all this represents is another wealth transfer (likely, in our case, through increased debt) to give MORE to communities that don’t value what they have – EBT cards, housing vouchers, free school… Discounted utilities, etc. ad infinitum.

Would be interesting to see a study that describes the full list of existing entitlement programs – I believe even the most liberal folks might be surprised.

Here’s an idea…. HOW ABOUT stop allowing criminals and terrorists to destroy neighborhoods businesses livelihoods families and then you won’t have to spend billions of dollars of taxpayer money pretending that you’re the savior of the people who live in fear every day of not being protected by a government and leadership that has sworn an oath to do so ?!?

Illinois democrats announce historic $350 billion investment in Black communities,
Translated Democratspeak: $350 billion gentrification investment partners with commercial real estate firms (think Penny Pritzker -the founder and chairman of PSP Partners, a private investment firm with ventures in real estate, hedge funds and startups). Black communities on the block for ‘redevelopment’ in prime real estate areas. Remember Cabrini Green?

I fear for our currency as government slugs throw dollars around like they’re jelly beans. This cannot end well. I’m glad I’m not young anymore.

And what is sad (? – not sure which adjective is most appropriate) is that the beneficiaries don’t understand they are trading away their agency – and, if we accept that some groups are becoming wards of the state, what value is given in return?

Do we really think these liberal/progressives are doing this for altruistic reasons? Are the beneficiaries of this “mana from heaven” ignorant that they are being used? This is antithetical to all that our country represents. Our founders would be sickened at how readily our society screams, “help me, help me!”

Richard “DICK” Durbin – “If we are serious about lifting up communities of color that have faced generations of inequalities, it starts by putting our money where our mouth is and passing this bill.”   Hey DICK – what’s this crap about “our” money…not yours you schmuck. Hey DICK, why don’t you and Duckless ask the voters (all the voters) what they want to do before you decide to spend $350B of our money. I for one am not overly interested in having any tax dollars spent this way. Not feeling all open and interested in singing Kumbaya this PM. Sorry,… Read more »

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
