Illinois education officials keep trying to hide their failures behind excuse of “higher test standards” – Wirepoints
Illinois’ dismal education numbers – especially for minority students – are embarrassing to politicians and officials. But rather than admit there’s a problem with Illinois’ education system, they attack the state’s own standards for being “too high,” instead.
The Federal CARES Act (Coronavirus Aid Relief and Economic Security Act) is Public Law 116-136 (PL 116-136).
PL 116-136 is also referred to as Coronavirus 3 (3rd round of Federal Coronavirus legislation).
The FY 2021 State of IL budget only works according to plan if the Federal government changes the stated intent and purpose of PL 116-136.
And that’s just one of gimmicks in the FY 2021 State of IL budget.
It’s a budget in name only.
Calling it a budget is an insult to the word budget.
It’s a political tool and weapon, not a budget.
If it’s any consolation, last year’s “budget” was too. If course, fat boy likes to claim it was balanced before the pandemic hit….
What is stunning to me is the shamelessness of it. And yet a majority of voters in Illinois voted for these Democrat con-men.
I warned that red states have no interest in bailing out blue states. And the $1,800 pay increases for legislators? Hahaha
How would you properly allocate COVID-19 bailout dollars for cities that have differing revenue sources? For example, take Chicago vs Berwyn. Chicago receives a large amount of revenue from sources other cities like Berwyn do not have, like tourism and conventions. Therefore, Berwyn has to rely more on property tax dollars than Chicago to fund their services whereas Chicago is able to keep property taxes lower due to those other revenue sources. So tourism dries up, conventions are cancelled, and hotels are empty. Is it Berwyn’s fault Chicago relies on this outside revenue source so heavily? Why should Chicago residents… Read more »
Why should taxpayers have to bailout revenue Chicago lost from the cancellation of professional sports? Should DuPage bailout Cook for lost county revenue when there are no professional teams in DuPage? Should Iowa have to pay to replace Illinois’ lost revenue for the same reason?
We’re all in this together, don’t you know? IA, MO, OH, WI and IN can cut their budgets so IL doesn’t have to.
We should all thank Dictator for Life Jabba for admitting he’s failed. He ran out of other people’s money. He’s proven that Illinois’ taxing and spending are unsustainable. He’s saying we were right about everything, only he’s using simple words and concepts he understands
In other words. ..
