Illinois municipalities push for local fuel tax as gas prices rise – Center Square

“This legislation preserves local control by allowing municipal officials who are accountable to their residents to determine whether to adopt the tax, at what level and for what purpose,” Mt. Vernon Mayor John Lewis said.

Let’s get the EV’s to “PAY THEIR FAIR SHARE “ for using Illinois roadways !!! They PAY NO FUEL TAXES while ICE vehicles pay 48.9 CENTS PER GALLON!!

In my downstate liberal utopia a new sales tax was approved with the thoughts that a new green space was to be purchased. Naturally that made the voting public feel all giddy inside and no doubt the new insider related employees to maintain the new green space will feel even more giddy. Now a considerable part of that sales tax is also to be devoted to pensions but why be a sourpuss and bring that up? Just more taxes for the Illinoisans and to think…they vote for them

So if gas prices are rising, let’s raise them further by adding more taxes to gasoline. Only in Illinois would this be considered rational.
